Mobile suits and starships
So... a Gundam SEED Destiny movie was announced in a
concert event thingy this weekend over in Japan (of course). Confirmed by
Sunrise in the news section of their site. According to Gunota, that piece of
news says that this will be the first Gundam theatrical release since F91
back in 1991. Which means a new story (unlike the recent Z Gundam trilogy
and their Happy-Tomino ending).
Fukuda will be directing, again, but since it's a movie, the
whole script has to be turned in at once, meaning that whoever writes the script
won't fall behind schedule (hopefully) as it happened in Destiny, and therefore
there won't be flashback fillers. Also, since movies and OVAs tend to have
higher quality animation than tv series, it will also mean less recicled
animation, I think.
It also means more fluid animation and more little details, like
hair just floating randomly in zero G, as in the Astray shorts (they got
the OVA treatment).
So in the CE department we have Stargazer, a new
Astray installment and a yet unnamed movie to look forward to, while we have
the MS Igloo OVA and some hints of a new series in the UC department.
It's good to be a Gundam fan.
My Inner Trekkie, on the other hand, is happy with Tokyopop's
Star Trek manga project. Original series to boot. Yay! Seems like it will be
released as part of Star Trek's 40th anniversary celebration. I already
have it in my Amazon wishlist.
And there's the upcoming Star Trek XI movie. Which rumors say
that it will be set in Kirk's academy years. Yay! Gary! if the rumors are true,
that is. If true, it will also mean a recast for Kirk and co.
I should rebuild my Star Trek movie collection. The dvds are
quite cheap here.
And I want the weather to allow me to use my United Federation
of Planets jacket.
Feeling: Excited
Now playing: Bridge (Brain
Power'd OST)
