R4 dvd rants

ZegaPain 5 has shipped from DVD Pacific's warehouse. In the meantime, there's no sign of the Grunny plushie I ordered from Gaia, or the Drem manga from Mexico.

But then again, last time someone sent me something from the States using the cheapest postage possible, the thing took two more months than expected.

On the anime dvd from Mexico front (which I'll call the R4 front, from now on), I tried to write to Videomax using their online contact form, in order to get an idea on their Samurai Gun release schedule, but to no avail. The thing seems to be broken. But since the first volume came out in april and none in may, it's definitively not a monthly release. Their online store has been down during the weekend, so no luck there either.

Another company, Alter Films, had released an Armitage and Appleseed movies, but is now releasing two series: Ergo Proxy and Texhnolyze. Both are short series, which will probably be released in 6 volumes.

I'm only interested in Technolyze, though. I downloaded fansubs a while back, but never got around to actually watching it, and I think I lost it already. But if I can now legally have it, then so be it.

I wouldn't exactly say that Towers Entertainment updated their online catalog. They now have the 6th Saint Seiya Hades Saga volume there, but they're actually on the 7th volume. And who knows when the next volume will be released.

And then there's Zima Entertainment, who have the ugliest site of the four, recently released a Lala Bell collection, like the Sandy Bell one. They seem to be releasing old series. So who knows what else they might get their hands on.

Out of the four, only Towers concentrates exclusively on anime.

Seems like my dvd player can run European R2 dvds. I wanted to try it, but importing just 1 anime dvd would be around $40.00 (calculating S&H), so I don't think my experiment is worth it at the moment.

Besides, with that money I can get 2 and a half R4s.

A trip to the local MixUp store is due.

Feeling: amused
