Stuff and... stuff
Sore throat isn't simple.
On Tuesday night I got sent home from training because I got
pale and started trembling. I felt better on Wednesday and Thursday. But Fruday
morning I woke up with my throat and ears hurting and itching horribly. Fearing
an infection I went to doctor. He not only confirmed and infection, but also
told me it was trying to make it's way to my ear, as they tend to do.
The antibiotic he gave me stinks horribly and messes my stomach
(a read of the attached literature reveals that it's a normal reaction). But I want this thing
gone, so I'll have to bear the two boxes that I have to take.
The trees on the other side are being cut down for the
construction of a building. They apparently have all the permits and
enviromental documentation. But there's a little side effect, and that is that
all the roaches, mice and rats that lived in that place are now moving into the
neighborhood houses. Just this weekend we captured two mice that made their home
in the kitchen this past week.
One was baited easily into the cage trap, but the other seemed
smarter, or simply didn't like ripe banana, and avoided going into the cage. We
were going to try and bait it with peanut butter when we found it busily trying
to make a hole in the dog food bag and it hadn't noticed us. We managed to bag
it.
Both were released very far away from here.
The kitchen stinks of mice urine and will need a thorough
cleaning. It does surprise me, though, since the other mice that have tried to
make their home here weren't as messy as these two.
I recently got the first Shakugan no Shana volume, the
Alter Films release. Like all their anime, it comes in a pretty super jewel box
(yes, that's how they're called, super jewel box). Unfortunately, as in their
Texhnolyze release, Shana's aspect ratio has been altered from 16:9
to fullscreen, making things looks stretched. The dvd encoding prevents the dvd
player from changing the ratio, so I have to watch it in my mom's tv. It's a
newer tv, so the aspect ratio can be changed in the tv itself.
Still, it's very annoying and needless. An e-mail to Alter Films
sent earlier this week is still unanswered.
Well, IF the release Fafner, it won't have that problem, since
the original broadcast has the normal fullscreen ratio.
