Letter took the long way
around
One of my school teachers once told us a story about a letter that a friend
sent her, and when it finally got to it's destination a year later, it turned
out that it had gone to the wrong country, despite the fact that the address was
clearly written on the envelope.
That was last century (which makes it sound like ancient history), around the
70īs-80īs. In a way, it wasn't surprising.
In december, Pinaworks in Brazil sent me a letter. Pretty much straight
forward from Manaus, Brazil, to San Salvador, El Salvador. Registered Priority
mail. Should have no problem getting here, right?.
Wrong.
In the middle of the week I got a notice from the post office saying that I
had mail from Brazil. Finally. Somehow, the letter ended up going to Trinidad
and Tobago! and then made it's way here. It even got postmarked there. XD. I
couldn't help but laugh all the way back home.

But seriously, my address was clearly written on the envelope. I understand
sending it to the wrong house, it's happened before and I've usually
hand-deliver it to the right neighbor (and received mail in the same fashion).
But the wrong country?.
Feeling: amused
