Plushies, manga, Gundam and
book
Note to self: never again rush to finish a plushie and most certainly don't
try to do it at night wen I'm most tired.
I'm not satisfied at all with how Shiner's "bunny ears" headgear turned out.
I don't expect things to be perfect and to come out exactly as I imagine
them, but I know I could have done better if I had just thought it over the way
I did with Agnes' jacket (I actually took a whole day to study, think and make
that jacket). Thinking it out last night, I'll have to carefully pull the head
gear apart. Thankfully it's only glued a bit on the top and on the sides, where
the ear pieces are. I don't want to redo the whole head because I do like how
his eyes came out.
Something tells me I'll have to redo the hair as well, or add a layer of
less. Even though I love the color, the felt itself is too weak. I went looking
for the same color today, in a stronger felt, but couldn't find it at all. I did
find a nice light grey I'm going to use for "bunny ears" ver 2.0.

Shiner's ugly
"bunny ear" headpiece, standing next to his home manga. Since there's no color
art of the Star Commanders yet, I decided to add some blues and grays, so that
it would be nicer than just black and white.

I do love how his
clothes and boots came out. I have to take a picture with better light when I
fix the headgear. I'll keep some blue for the ver 2.0 "bunny ears".
Shiner's entrace in the newest chapter was awesome. I can't wait to see if he
will actually fight Ageha and co. Or just watch Dholaki fight. And if Oboro has
any new tricks (or experiments) up his sleeve. A part of me thinks Oboro might
eventually try to heal Tatsuo. Who knows. Psyren needs to be more
popular.
Reborn, in the meantime, is taking a break from the fighting. I hope
this non-fighting stage lasts long. There are a couple of things that need to be
solved before the confrontation with the real Funeral Wreaths, like the thing
Bianchi and Gokudera wanted to talk about and the whole story behing the
Arcobaleno curse. I wanted Gamma to join the Vongola... or at least entrust
Uni's safety to Gokudera. Gamma and Gokudera are more alike than they might care
to admit.
Dear Mundo Vid, when will you make me happy by licensing Reborn?
At least there were two girls cosplaying Tsuna and Basil at the manga
festival last weekend. Yay!
But back to the plushies, I got my first commission! From my brother, though, for his girlfriend.
There goes my idea of doing only manga characters for the time being. The idea
and the chance to try a couple of new things are welcome, though.
After the commissioned plushie I'd love to make Junas, but there isn't a full
body shot of his Star Commander self yet (why is my head pairing up Shiner with
Junas?). Actually, I'd love to make all off the Star Commanders. But I also want
to make Gokudera and Oboro. Choices, choices.
People tell me I should make some popular characters to sell on the next
Yume. Considering the price of the materials and all the work they take
(including the amount of time it takes me to study the character and the
clothes), would $10 - $15 be a reasonable price? Family says it is, but I doubt
the average Yume goer would shell out that amount... unless I promote them as
super limited, one-of-a-kind, ultra special edition plushie?.
The new Gundam series that will celebrate the franchise's 30th
anniversary will go back to Gundam's roots, by being a UC series. The two
photos that are circulating on the web look pretty good. I can't wait for the
official announcements.
In the meantime, I'm still waiting for Menclave to catch up on Gundam 00.
I know I can watch from another group, but I like Menclave, so I'll wait for
them.
Bandai finally announced that their first Gundam 00 release will be in
may. Apparently, the special edition release will include the first Gundam
00F manga. Yay.
Now if only they would license Stargazer and the rest of the Astray
material available out there...
But it's on my pre-order list right now. 00F makes the special edition
worthy, even if it comes without a box.
I finished reading Deeper. It was more claustrophobic than Tunnels,
specially when Will gets lost. Which makes me think that when, and if, the
Tunnels movie comes out, I'll go watch on my own. And it was bad enough that
(highlight for spoilers) Cal
survived a brush with death in the sugar trap only to get shot to death by the
Limiters. Favorite Character Death Syndrome strikes again. Or at least
that's the strong impression the ending gives. I can't wait to read Free
Fall. .
